Great question! Fasting is a way for us to connect even closer with God. By allowing ourselves to give up certain foods and/or activities, we have more time to hear from God, feel God, and experience His presence more.

Lectio Divina Prayer Instructions
Lectio (read): Slowly read the passage.
Meditatio (Meditate): Reflect on words or phrases that resonate.
Oratio (Pray): Pray in response to the passage.
Contemplatio (Contemplate): Rest in God’s presence, allowing the word to sink deeply into the heart.
Types of Fasts
Complete Food Fast
This type of fast means abstaining from all food and drinking only water. Usually short term (1-3 days), requires prep and possible medical consultation.
Liquid Fast
This type of fast means only consuming liquids, such as water, juice, or broth. This allows for longer fasting periods while sustaining energy.
Partial Fast
This type of fast is skipping certain meals like breakfast and lunch or just types of foods like meats or caffeine. A Daniel fast is under this category.
Media Fast
This type of fast means giving up social media, television, or video games. You can do all three or just one. This is used to eliminate daily distractions.
Financial Fast
This type of fast means spending money on only essentials. This allows the person to focus on stewardship & giveing more generously.
Comfort Fast
This type of fast means giving up certain comforts such as luxury items like coffee or a favorite snacks.
